The Wadoryu Karatedo Kenkyukai is an association that was founded in order to follow the principals & teachings of Hironori Otsuka Meijin 10th Dan, the founder of Wadoryu.
All are welcome, whether you are a beginner or have practised any Martial Art before. Juniors are admitted from the age of 10 upwards.
Beginners are taught fundamental techniques & movement. As students progress they are taught the more advanced principals of Kihon Waza (Basic movement), Renraku Waza (Combined techniques), Kata (Traditional forms), Yakosoku Gumite (prearranged one attack pairwork), Kihon Gumite (prearranged pairwork of Wadoryu) as well as Jiyu Gumite (sparring), Tanto Dori (traditional knife defence of Wadoryu), Idori (traditional kneeling defence of Wadoryu) and Kata Bunkai & Kaisetsu (explanation of set forms).
The principals of correct Dojo etiquette and behaviour are strictly adhered to in order to develop students character and to ensure safe practise whilst training.
We are founder members of the Southwest Wado Alliance. Members of the English Wado Federation, the English Karate Federation, the British karate Federation, the European Karate Federation and the World Karate Federation as well as the Amalgated Warrior Arts.
Our instructor is CRB compliant, First Aid certified and holds Instructor indemnity insurance and has undergone training in child protection.
